MCP phone calling tools: what your AI assistant can ask for.

FoxEra's MCP server gives your AI assistant a set of tools for managing outbound calling campaigns. Here is a plain-English tour of every tool — what it does, when you would use it and what safeguards are in place.

What is an MCP tool?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor connect to external services. When you connect your assistant to the FoxEra MCP server, it receives a list of tools — specific actions it can perform on your behalf.

Each tool is a defined action with clear inputs and outputs. Your assistant reads the tool descriptions, works out which ones it needs for your request, and calls them in the right order. You stay in control because certain tools — like approving a campaign — require your explicit confirmation before anything happens.

Account and setup tools

Before running a campaign, your assistant can check the basics:

  • Account status — checks your balance, confirmed phone number, and whether your account is ready to make calls.
  • Choose agent — selects which AI calling agent (Cass, Alex or Andrea) will handle the campaign. Each has a distinct voice and style.
  • Calling hours — reads or sets the hours during which the agent is allowed to dial. Calls outside these hours are held until the window opens.
  • Top-up link — generates a link for you to add calling credit to your account. New accounts start with £7 of free credit.

These tools let your assistant set up everything without you needing to open the dashboard. Pricing starts from 12p per connected minute.

Lead and folder management tools

Your assistant can organise your calling lists directly:

  • Add leads — uploads individual contacts or batches into a folder. Each lead needs a business name and phone number at minimum.
  • Create folders — organises leads into groups. You might have one folder for restaurants and another for hotels, so the AI agent can use a different approach for each.
  • List leads — reads back what is in a folder so your assistant can confirm the data before dialling.

If you already have a spreadsheet of contacts, your assistant can read it and upload the leads for you. Read the guide on building a UK cold calling list for tips on where to find leads.

Campaign tools

These are the tools your assistant uses to create and run a campaign:

  • Preview campaign — shows you how many leads will be called, the estimated cost, and the calling script the agent will follow. Nothing is dialled at this stage.
  • Create campaign — sets up the campaign ready for your approval.
  • Approve campaign — this is the step that starts the dialling. Your assistant cannot skip it. You must explicitly say yes before anyone is phoned.
  • Schedule campaign — sets a campaign to run at a future time. Useful if you want calls to go out first thing tomorrow morning.
  • Cancel or stop — cancels a scheduled campaign or stops a live one immediately. Queued leads are returned to the folder.

The approval step is a hard safety requirement. No campaign runs without it, whether started from the dashboard or through an AI assistant.

Results and reporting tools

After a campaign finishes — or while it is still running — your assistant can pull back the results:

  • Outcomes — a summary of each call: answered, voicemail, no answer, engaged, or not interested.
  • Transcripts — the full text of every answered call. Your assistant can read these and highlight the warm leads for you.
  • Recordings — links to the audio of each call, so you can listen to how the conversation went.
  • Reports — campaign-level statistics: total calls, connection rate, average call length, total cost.

You can ask your assistant to filter the results — for example, "show me everyone who asked for a callback" — and it will search the transcripts for you. See how to read a cold call transcript for what to look for.

Script editing tools

Your AI assistant can also adjust the calling script the agent follows:

  • Read pitch — retrieves the current script so your assistant can show it to you or suggest changes.
  • Edit pitch — updates the script. You might want to change the opening line, add a new service to mention, or adjust the tone between campaigns.

The script is what your AI calling agent says when someone picks up. Getting it right matters — read the guide on writing an AI cold calling script for practical tips.

Frequently asked questions

Can my AI assistant start a campaign without my approval?

No. The approve step is a hard requirement built into the MCP server. Your assistant can set up and preview a campaign, but it cannot start dialling until you explicitly confirm.

Which AI assistants work with these MCP tools?

Any assistant that supports MCP, including ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and others. Connect at foxera.co.uk/developers to get started.

Do I need to be a developer to use MCP tools?

No. The connection process is a guided sign-in — you press Allow, and your assistant handles the rest. Read how OAuth works for a non-technical explanation.

How much does it cost to use the MCP calling tools?

Using the MCP tools themselves is free. You pay only for connected call minutes, from 12p per minute with no subscription. New accounts get £7 of free credit.
