Can Microsoft Copilot call my leads? Yes — through FoxEra.
Copilot cannot phone anyone itself, but a Copilot declarative agent can connect to FoxEra Calls via MCP or OpenAPI and manage your campaigns. You still approve every call batch before anyone is dialled.
What Copilot can and cannot do with phone calls
Microsoft 365 Copilot is a text assistant. It reads your documents, drafts emails and summarises meetings, but it has no phone line and cannot dial a number. If you ask it to call a lead, it will tell you it cannot.
What Copilot can do is operate an outside service on your behalf — if that service is connected as a plugin or an MCP server. FoxEra Calls is exactly that kind of service. Once connected, Copilot can add leads, preview a campaign, and hand the actual calling to FoxEra's AI agents (Cass, Alex or Andrea). The calls happen on FoxEra's infrastructure, not inside Microsoft 365.
How the connection works
There are two ways to connect Copilot to FoxEra Calls, depending on your Microsoft 365 tenant's settings:
- Remote MCP server — if your tenant admin has enabled MCP support in Copilot, you can point a declarative agent at https://app.foxera.co.uk/mcp and sign in with your FoxEra account. Copilot then sees the same tools as ChatGPT or Claude.
- OpenAPI plugin — Copilot's plugin system accepts an OpenAPI specification. FoxEra's REST API has one, so you can register it as a custom plugin. This path does not require MCP support to be enabled.
Both methods authenticate against your FoxEra account and log every action. The choice depends on what your tenant allows — ask your Microsoft 365 admin if you are unsure. Full setup details are in the developer guide.
What you can ask Copilot to do
Once connected, you can give Copilot natural-language instructions and it translates them into tool calls:
- "Add these five companies as leads" — Copilot sends each one to your FoxEra workspace.
- "Preview a campaign for the new leads" — Copilot requests a preview showing headcount and estimated cost.
- "Show me yesterday's call results" — Copilot reads back transcripts and outcomes.
- "Who answered and asked for a callback?" — Copilot filters the results for warm leads.
Copilot does the fetching and formatting. FoxEra does the calling. You approve in between. No one is phoned without your explicit confirmation of the exact headcount.
The approval gate still applies
Connecting Copilot does not give it a free hand to phone people. The same safety gate that applies to every other assistant applies here: your campaign must be previewed and explicitly approved before FoxEra's agents start dialling.
This is deliberate. A prompt like "call everyone in my list" does not trigger calls — it triggers a preview. You see the number of leads and the estimated cost, and only your yes moves it forward. Read more about how the approval process works on the AI cold calling software page.
Tenant admin settings you may need
Microsoft 365 tenants vary in what they allow. Some organisations restrict custom plugins or MCP connections by default. If you try to connect and Copilot does not show FoxEra's tools, check with your admin whether:
- Custom plugins or connectors are enabled for your user account.
- External MCP servers are allowed if you are using the MCP path.
- OAuth consent is permitted for third-party services.
If your organisation locks these down, the REST API is an alternative. You can call it from Power Automate, a custom script, or any tool that speaks HTTP — no Copilot plugin required. See the developer guide for API authentication.
Pricing and getting started
Connecting Copilot to FoxEra is free. You pay only for calls — from 12p per connected minute — with no subscription and no monthly fee. New accounts start with £7 of free calling credit, which is enough to test a short campaign and read the results before committing further.
If you already use another assistant alongside Copilot, the same FoxEra account works in both. One URL, one set of leads, one approval gate. See one MCP server for multiple assistants for how that works, or jump straight to the cost breakdown.
Frequently asked questions
Can Copilot make phone calls directly?
No. Copilot has no phone line. It connects to FoxEra Calls, which handles the dialling. Copilot manages your leads and campaigns; FoxEra's AI agents make the calls.
Do I need my admin's permission to connect?
It depends on your Microsoft 365 tenant. Some organisations restrict custom plugins and MCP connections. Check with your admin if the connection does not appear.
How much does it cost?
Connecting is free. Calls cost from 12p per connected minute with no subscription. New accounts get £7 of free calling credit to test with.
Can I use Copilot and ChatGPT with the same FoxEra account?
Yes. One FoxEra account works with every assistant you connect. Leads and campaigns are shared across all of them. See one MCP server for multiple assistants.
