AI calling safety

Is it safe to let an AI assistant make phone calls for your business?

A connected AI assistant cannot phone anyone without the exact confirmed headcount and a separate approval from you. Keys act only inside your own workspace, every change is logged, and you can revoke access at any time.

The concern is reasonable

Giving an AI assistant access to your phone system sounds risky. What if it calls the wrong people? What if it spends your calling credit without asking? What if someone else gains access to your account through the connection?

These are fair questions, and any tool that connects an AI to real-world actions should answer them before you connect. Here is how FoxEra Calls handles each one.

Nobody is phoned without your approval

The most important safety measure is the approval step. When your AI assistant creates a campaign through FoxEra, it must confirm the exact number of people who will be called and get a separate approval from you before anyone is phoned.

Your assistant is told to show you the headcount and wait for your yes. If you do not approve, nothing happens. If the number looks wrong, you say no and adjust the list. There is no scenario where an assistant silently dials your entire contact database without your knowledge.

This two-step confirmation (headcount shown, then approval given) is built into the system, not just a suggestion. The campaign cannot start without it.

Keys stay inside your workspace

When you connect an AI assistant to FoxEra Calls, the connection uses either OAuth 2.1 (for MCP-compatible assistants) or an API key that starts with fxk_. Either way, the credentials act only inside your own workspace. They cannot access another customer's data, leads or campaigns.

If you use the MCP connection (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and similar assistants), you sign in once and press Allow. The assistant receives a scoped token that works only for your account. If you use an API key, you generate it in your dashboard and it works the same way: one key, one workspace, no cross-access.

For full connection instructions, see the developer guide.

Every action is logged

Every action your AI assistant takes through FoxEra is logged with a timestamp: leads added, campaigns created, campaigns approved, calls placed, calls completed. You can review the log at any time to see exactly what happened and when.

This means if something looks unexpected, you have a complete audit trail. You can see which assistant action triggered which calls, how much credit was spent, and what the outcomes were. Read the call transcripts and listen to recordings for any call that ran.

Revoking access is instant

If you decide to disconnect your AI assistant, you can revoke access at any time. Delete the API key from your dashboard or change your password, and every connected assistant is disconnected immediately. No waiting period, no support ticket, no phone call to cancel.

Any campaigns that are already running will complete their current calls, but no new calls will start after access is revoked. You remain in control of your account at every point.

What about cost control?

Your AI assistant can only spend the calling credit already in your account. When the credit runs out, calling stops. There is no overdraft and no automatic top-up unless you set one up yourself.

Before any campaign runs, your assistant shows you a preview with the estimated cost based on the number of leads and expected calling time. You see the price before you approve. If the number is higher than you want, shrink the list and preview again.

Calls cost from 12p per connected minute with no subscription. New accounts start with £7 of free calling credit, which is enough to run a test campaign and see the results before adding more credit. Use the cost calculator to estimate a campaign before connecting.

How to connect safely

Connecting your AI assistant to FoxEra Calls takes three steps:

  • Add a custom connector in your assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or another MCP-compatible tool).
  • Paste the MCP server address and sign in with your FoxEra account.
  • Press Allow to grant scoped access.

For REST API access (n8n, Make, your own code), generate an API key in your dashboard and use it as a bearer token. The OpenAPI specification is published at the developer page.

Free to connect. You pay only for calling. Read the full setup instructions in the developer guide, or see AI cold calling for B2B sales for a broader look at how AI calling fits into outbound.

Frequently asked questions

Can ChatGPT call people without my permission?

No. A campaign requires the exact confirmed headcount and a separate approval from you before anyone is phoned. The assistant cannot bypass this step.

What happens if my AI assistant makes a mistake?

Every action is logged with a timestamp. You can review what happened, revoke access instantly, and no new calls will start after disconnection. Campaigns preview cost and headcount before they run.

Is the MCP connection secure?

Yes. It uses OAuth 2.1, the same standard used by major platforms. Your credentials are scoped to your workspace and cannot access anyone else's account.

How much can an AI assistant spend on calls?

Only the calling credit already in your account. There is no overdraft. Calls cost from 12p per connected minute, and new accounts start with £7 of free credit.

Can I use Claude or Cursor instead of ChatGPT?

Yes. Any MCP-compatible assistant works, including Claude, Cursor and DeepSeek-based agents. You can also connect via REST API from tools like n8n or Make. See the developer guide for all options.
