An AI receptionist for your salon
Your hands are in someone’s hair when the phone rings. The agent answers, takes the appointment request, and you confirm it between clients.
The problem on a busy day
In a salon or barber the stylist is also the receptionist. Picking up mid-cut is rude to the client in the chair; not picking up loses the next one.
What the agent does
- Answers in your salon’s name when you do not pick up.
- Takes appointment requests with the service, preferred day and time, name and number.
- If you use Google Calendar, offers free 60-minute slots inside your opening hours, and writes the appointment when you confirm.
- Knows your weekly hours, your lunch break and your closed days.
- Answers your saved questions (prices you choose to share, parking, patch tests) and takes a message for the rest.
- Starts from the salon, barber and beauty starter pack.
It answers only from the facts you save. If it does not know, it takes a message; it never invents prices, times or availability. If a caller asks whether it is an AI, it says so and never claims to be a person.
How a call can go
Agent: Hi, Studio Nine, how can I help?
Caller: Can I book a cut and colour next week?
Agent: Of course. Tuesday at 10am or Wednesday at 2pm are free. Which suits you?
Caller: Wednesday at two.
Agent: Wednesday at 2pm for a cut and colour. Can I take your name and number? The salon will confirm it shortly.

Setting it up
- Create a Receptionist workspace and give it your website. It can read the site into a draft of your business facts for you to check.
- Choose the starter pack for your kind of business. It adds the usual reasons people call, the questions to ask before a booking and FAQ questions with blank answers for you to fill in. It never overwrites what you wrote.
- Save your opening hours as a weekly timetable, with one daily break and your closed days.
- Keep your own number: dial the forwarding codes shown on screen on your own phone, then press “Test my forwarding”.
- Write an opening message that says it is an AI assistant (in the EU this has been required since 2 August 2026), then switch it on. Every call, booking request and message appears in the app, and a morning report arrives at 08:00 London time when there were calls.
What it does not do
- It does not confirm appointments on its own: you confirm each one.
- It does not connect to salon booking software; it uses your Google Calendar or the Bookings screen.
- It does not take deposits on the call.
What it costs
Receptionist: your first month is free with no card; then Solo £39 or Business £79 a month (exact allowances are confirmed before activation). Outbound calling: 21p per connected minute from prepaid credit, £7 free to start. Tax may be added where applicable.
Try it before you set anything up

Frequently asked questions
Can it see my diary?
If you connect and verify your Google Calendar, it offers free 60-minute slots from it; it does not know how long each treatment takes, so you confirm every booking. Otherwise it takes requests for you to confirm.
What happens if a client cancels by phone?
It takes the message and it appears in the app for you to act on.
